Chris Gruys still has it. We found out about a year ago he was working on
it (at Kimmons). Then later found out he was trying to get it ready for
Monterey. As it turns out Chris pulled the car from Kimmons (I heard they
weren't moving along with the project) and the car went to Dan Walters,
where he built the motor for it. From there it'll go to Rick Fitzgerald's
for painting; it may have gone there today. Dan will be driving it at the
Historics. I talked to Steve Alcala the other day. He'd been under &
looked at the rear setup of the Monster & said it looks identical to the
setup on my car. Well, that makes sense since my car was stripped of
suspension for the Monster Tiger & then when Chris bought those cars and
brought them over in the '70s he had Jim Wallace put the original parts back
on my car. So, I guess the Monster now has the Jag suspension that was put
on my car by Ken Dalziel after they rescued its shell from the field behind
Alan Frasier Racing in the UK.
Such convolution; there's a lot more too!
