Have been working on exhaust for "Christine", 79
spit, with no luck in trying to weld crack. Then tried
to repair a set of Pacesetter headers that were cut
off for a try at a 4-2-1 conversion. Got them sealed
with another collector, jacked engine up to install
them, and now the back two cyl are barely
running....Humm, must be too much back pressure
somewhere....wonder if anybody else has had this
problem with pacesetter headers. All sparky ok, was
running good, single 150 carb, 140 lbs compression.
Wish we knew a lot more about headers.. Guess the next
step is to find another non-cracked 79 header, the big
glob of metal with cat conv..
Suspect that pipes are not long enough before
homemade collector causing too much backpressure. Oh
well, might get out the mig welder and saws all and
try something else..
Hope everyone is having a good holiday...
