I like the fact you can rebuild a Delco unit with parts at the local auto
store unlike an import. Heck, if you want to, you can upgrade it easily
with a different regulator inside, coils, or even a chrome case if that
should be your fancy. It's a standard proven design since 1972. The only
thing that has changed in the latter years is a bit of black plastic
covering the terminals (not a bad idea) and going to metric threads. The
internals are still mostly the same for the last 30 years.
It's one of those, "If it ain't broke...."
