Thanks Carter for your Spitfire-pregnant lady story.
I was relaying it to my wife (who found it very funny) at the weekend, and she
reminded me that she not only rode in, but drove Daffy a few times when
pregnant. At about 8 months I was taking her car for its MOT (annual
roadworthiness) test, so she took Daffy to work. It was hard enough getting
in and out when she was that size, but the worst bit was when some poor
parking by her colleagues left her with a very narrow (even for a Spitfire)
gap to park in. She got Daffy in OK, but physically would not fit through the
door, as it would not open very far.
In the end, her solution was to stop and get out of the car with only the nose
in the parking space. She then got out, shut the door, and enlisted the help
of a friend to push Daffy into the parking space! Fortunately she has a
private under-ground car park, with a nice level floor, at her work. At the
end of the day, she got someone to squeeze past so they could push Daffy out
again, in she got and off she went!
