I've been considering the OD conversion on my car. (a lot of the major
routes around
here have moved up to 65mph....which means traffic does 75-80mph. That's
over 4000
rpms my car is doing for a good 10 to 30 miles in a non-OD unit.)
But there are inherent problems with the OD upgrade.
A) finding someone that is willing to part with their OD transmission, OD
and drive
train as well as assundry parts. B) How many miles before this person's
used OD or
Tranny is going to need a rebuild (my non-od tranny is getting near that
time). And
then you think "To heck with it, I'll go to Moss or VB and buy rebuilt ones
(that
should be like having a NEW unit. Problem solved Right?)"
C) So anyone got $2700 I can borrow plus another $500 to $1000 to cover
installation?
The 5 speed conversion sounds pretty good to me. (Besides, I think I'd
prefer to
throw a stick than flip a switch.) But my question is why not a 6spd?
