Joe, Peter S and listers,

Yeah, I took a few oil drips to the left eye! and a burn to the arm
from
the trouble lamp, but nothing major.

There is wear on the crank flange, as described. I see a small amount
of wear
just outside the thrust washer groove in the block. (The flange is slightly
larger than
the washer groove, so it hits there first.) No real damage I think.

I do have a spare 1500 motor to be rebuilt, and am in the process of
buying a MK
IV motor complete for when this one gives way.

Thank you Joe!!! You just cleared up the question I had last month.
The spare
1500 motor mentioned above has number FP1699UE, and no one else could explain
why an
'FP' number for a Spitfire. Now I know its a Midget motor. I assume all
dimensions are
the same as standard?

Cheers, Fred
