*There are tens of thousands of ag and industrial equipment units in service
that were originally 6 volt and have had one-wire 12 volt alternators, 12
volt batteries, and 12 volt coils installed. The starters work great and
last well. On these and similar simple systems, I wouldn't hesitate to make
the change. On cars, dropping resistors for radios and bulb changes for
lights complete the picture.*
