Replaced mine three months ago.
I went out and looked under the car because this thread made me curious.
It had no prep prior to bolting on and it's showing surface rust on some
worn spots already.
The paint on it is thin, chips easy and wears down fast on a daily
driver.
Guess I should have done some painting or undercoating of the tank.
More fun for me to work on when I get to my new home.
