Charlie;

Don't put a floor drain in your garage floor. It might seem like a good
idea when you have water on the floor and no where to go. But you don't
want oil, gasoline or solvent finding that drain and then draining into the
soil under the garage or to a municipal sewer system. There have been
explosions caused by gasoline in sewer systems (one happened a couple years
ago in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada) and you could be into a very
costly cleanup if it gets into the soil. One quart of gasoline can render
well water undrinkable. Solvents are even harder to clean up.
