I have to agree with the others, there is no real reason to switch to
negative ground unless you are planning to install a modern radio/cd
player and I would have to ask why someone would do that. If you are
doing anything faster than sittin in a parking lot, you wouldn't be able
to hear it anyway. You can get a pertronix ignition system in positive
ground, so that's not an excuse. The fuel pumps for the T series cars
were all non polarized unles they have been converted to solid state and
if that is the case, it is easy enough to convert them to whatever
polarity you want. For any auxiliary equipment that you might want to
plug into the car (Laptop, cell phone, PDA, GPS, etc.) just go to your
local yachet supply and get a auxiliary conector that can be wired into
your car and is isolated from ground. As long as the item you are using
are isolated from ground (all the afore mentioned items fit that
requirement) you just plug into the auxiliary power connector. I wired
one into our TD for use with our laptop when we are traveling and want
to use the map program. The only other reason to convert to negative
ground is to install a alternator. If this is what you have in mind,
the conversion is the same as on a 66 MGB, except on the TD, you will
need to reverse the leads on the ammeter.
