Also keep in mind that the factory workshop manual is in error in
regards to lubrication. The manual states that the "Wick" should be
smeared with grease. This is totally wrong as I pointed out in a TSO
article several years ago. Grease has such a high temp flow point that
it will never flow into the rear bushing. Also recall that the bushing
is to be soaked in "OIL" before installing. A check of the part in the
LUCAS parts book shows it also being used in the MGA generator. The MGA
manual states the lubrication should be oil. Additionally, Dick Knudson
used oil for many years and very has had any problems. So, always oil
the rear bush. Don't use grease.
