I have run Mobil 1 20/50 and Mobil 1's spin-on filter for 3 years in my 54
TF-1250. I wanted to sustain better oil pressure at high engine
temperatures while climbing 7000' mountains in Utah. I have one of Phil
Mareno's(sp?)spin on filter adaptors on my engine. My engine was rebuilt to
0.080" over 35 years ago. About 3/8" is shaved off the head and the engine
has not been treated gently. The first 500 miles or so on synthetic oil was
scary because so much leaked out. About a quart was lost in the first 100
miles of a tour at freeway speeds with the stock rear end. Once the seals
and gaskets swelled up on the synthetic oil all has been fine. I change oil
and filter annually adding about a quart every 1200 miles or so and put
between 2500 and 5000 miles a season on the car including at least one hard
day a year of 1st and 2nd gear gymkhana stuff. I feel the synthetic may
reduce engine temperature a little - maybe 5 degrees - perhaps due to
reduced friction. Cold engine 70 lbs of oil pressure with synthetic. Hot
(worn) engine 35 to 40 pounds with synthetic. 50 and 30 pounds respectively
on Phillips 66 TropArtic 10-40 before going to synthetic. Rebuild of the
engine is planned this winter.

I change the oil and filter on "The Pumpkin" in the spring erery year
whether its needed or not. I'v used Castrol 20-50 forerver..
If you use synthetic, how often do you change it??. How about the filter ??
