Thanks for all of the responses to my question about quieting down a noisy
speedometer cable.
I realize that the old R&R after lubricating is the ultimate answer. I was
hoping to find a quick and dirty that would last for 4 days/1000 miles without
having to pull the cable, etc. I have some aerosol teflon lubricant (I use it in
an old clock with wooden works) that I'll try to spray into the cable. The
noise is abated by changing the angle of the cable at the last bend before the
speedometer. I'm certain that the noise is not emanating from within the
speedometer. Thanks again, it's time to go and pack Lazarus for the trip. Hope
to see some of you in Rochester this weekend.
