Kevlar Brake linings

Have any of you had any experience using Kevlar brake linings?  They are 
reputed to be "kinder" to brake drums, and to offer superior stopping as 
compared with the old style linings.  I am particulary interested in the 
"kinder" aspect, as a way to minimize wear on the Alfin brake drums on my TC. 
 Any comments will be most appreciated.  If you suggest an alternative to 
Kevlar, please be as specific as possible, and identify a source or sources.
