During tests a couple eons ago we did a simular test and found the sleeve was
like pushing on the end of a garden hose. (87 mm), only not quite as
predictable. it cerrtain turned me into .0045" to .005" clearance guy. The
best seal and power I ever had was when I lapped the rings to the sleeve, gave
the piston a lot of clearance, and wished it well in the war days to come. As
long as that spark plug comes out of the bore after racing with a crusty ring
on the edge looking like tiny potato chips you could not make it better.
