I have been considering using my top frame front piece and a making new rod
made from conduit that attaches to the top mounting bolts behind the seats
and uses adjustable straps and D rings to attach the rear of the cover to
the hooks on the rear deck lid. Has anyone tried this approach?

I also made a fair weather top from an old hard top that I cut up. I use the
front latch that came with the top and used Velcro flash light holders to
attach to the roll bar. I was able to do speeds over 130 mph and it stayed
on my
car =) . It is difficult to store but it works great on long trips to
Shasta.
