Hello folks! I just converted my '69 2000 to a GM alternator (model
1100111). Looking back at the archives I found allot of info on how to do it
(David and Candy Pina post on June 19, 2000). However I am having a problem.
Here is the way I wired it according to the archives: The big lead on the
back of the alternator is hooked up to the positive terminal of the battery
with a 35 amp fuse. The alternator is grounded to the battery and chassis.
The red wire from the plug on the alternator is fused (35 amp) and tied into
the old big wire that was on the old alternator. The small white wire from
the plug is tied to the radio power wire. This wire has to be connected for
the alternator to begin output, otherwise I only show 12 volts at the
battery. Connected, I am reading 14.5 volts at the battery which is great.

Here is my problem: no matter where I tie in the white "sensing" wire, the
car won't shut off via the ignition switch until I disconnect this wire!
What the hell is going on?

Any helpful ideas with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Barney
