Sometimes folks over tighten the sender nut, which causes it to really stick.
Usually the
nut flares out too, which makes it a real problem to get out. (This is based
on a 1.6, but I
think it is similar for the 2L.) You will have to try driving it out from the
inside. If it
still won't come out you may be forced to drill it out, but that can be a
tricky proposition.
When you put the new sender back in coat the ridge around the sender lightly
with sealer and the
nut and top part of the sender with anit-sieze compound. Tighten the gland nut
just snug, or
youwill run the risk of flaring it again. Check for leaks and tighten it a bit
if necessary.
