Eric the symptons sound different on your trans problem than one I had
with the corred rail. If the shifter moves all over but doesn't do
anything it's something else. There is a small pin right under the
shifter with a circle-clip on each end this fell out on me once and gave
the symptons you have. There are other pins inside also.
To the question about dings an ripples in the bumpers most chrome
shops will straighten them when they rechrome them. Most body shops
have a source for collision damage repair on chrome parts and will help
get yours to them. Lastly I have to agree with Dainel about the
regular roadster guys
