No it's not hopeles... Karting is the best, obviously! :)

p.s. Karting does actually solve a lot of the gripes brought up: It's
much cheaper, tracktime is free if you become a member, speeds are low
for sprint races or fast if you like long track, you can autocross where
the real competition is, tires are _much_ cheaper and can be had in any
compound you want from "last a season" to "last a session"

p.p.s. Yes, my kart is still sort of for sale :)
