Thanks for the info.

That 100 octane gas is at the Union 76 at 3010 Almaden Expwy near Foxworthy in
San Jose.
Station phone # is 408 978 5650

Regarding efficiency, Chevron's web site says the MTBE gas that used to be
sold here in CA lowered fuel efficiency by about 3.4 %.

76 has a list of stations that sell "race gas" somewhere on there web
site.  There's one in San Jose, and another one in the East Bay,
perhaps Fremont.  It's 100 octane.

Like you, I'm also curious about the performance differences between
fuel that is truly 100 percent octane, and a hexane/octane mix which
has been "boosted" by additives to achieve a 100 octane rating.  They
have the same detonation resistance, but would one have a higher
energy content?

I have heard tales of drastically reduced gas mileage when using MTBE
as an octane enhancer...
