This is a subject of much debate in our region. We have huge lots, but lots
of newbies and a few of our course designers insist on the hard turn after
the finish.
Now some in our region argue its a tough move and seperates better drivers
from lesser ones. Okay, I'll buy that.
But, since the hard turn is after the finish you can do the old "Fast in,
slow out...". You're basically setting yourself up for a crash after the
finish. It's just a tire killer. And with our newbies you end up with a
vicious number of cones at the finish and workers running through the
lights. The horror! Oh, the horror....
And the tire abuse! We had a couple of these at world famous El Toro Marine
Air Base. Where one locked up braking manuever can expose cords on a
Hoosier in nanoseconds. The response, of course is, then slowdown earlier
if you don't want the risk.... Yeah, sure.
I went to the SD Tour last year. It was my first year in autox. Wow! You
mean you can have finishes where you don't have to throw the car sideways
after the finish line? Amazing, but true.
