OK, which one IS it, then?:
1. Is the purpose of STS to attract "new" autoxers? There's no
need whatever for it to be a Nationals class to serve this
purpose. Just leave it in the rulebook as a Regional class.
2. Is it there to provide a new place for _existing_ autoxers to
play? Then I say it should be held to the same standard that was
applied in the creation of Street Prepared: let it operate at the
Regional level for a few years, expand it to include more than
one class - it IS a new Category after all, having its own unique
prep allowances - THEN see if it can fly at Nationals.
I took a quick look at the STS entry list at Nats this year, and
I see lots of names that are anything but new to autox. Those
folks would almost certainly have been there anyway, STS or not.
If your answer is 1. above, then you should be content to see
"all the new blood" at the local level and not concern yourself
with National status for STS. In fact, that will quickly become
self-defeating, as the presence of experienced autoxers in the
class will tend to discourage newcomers. If it's 2., then you
should be willing to see the process through before arguing for a
whole new Category to become permanent.

The offensive practice of calling someone who disagrees with you
"closed-minded" is nothing new on team.net - we've seen that
tactic used to defend all sorts of ideas that ultimately didn't
work out - but it does little to further your argument. I suggest
you stick with discussing the actual issues. I'll continue to do
likewise.
