The roller rockers are 1.65 to 1 lift, run needle roller bearings, and are
good & strong. But you must measure the lift of your cam, multiply x 1.65 &
compare it to your valve to block distance (incl. gasket depth, compressed
plus a bit for safety) to see if you need to relieve the block so they don't
kiss it. A quick, small job with a router - put some (heated to liquid )
candle wax in your bores to protect them as you relieve them.
Exhaust may look to be the only problem valve, but the inlet is just kissing
the very edge of the bore if you've got really big valves in.
My little group of Alpine racing mad mates are happy to organise a
production run, but they're a bit expensive for runs of <20 sets. Would love
to hear from you & other likely takers if you or they want them. I'll get a
costing on the basis of a run of 25 sets (each set will include 2 spares
plus instructions for mounting on your original rocker shafts), & put it on
the net.
How are you for oil pumps? The mad mates (we call ourselves Red Dog Alpine
Racing) have perfected oil pumps pumping 16.8 cc per revolution, if you're
interested. Std 1600 ones pump 8.99 cc; std 1725's 11.7 cc; and onas
modified with MGB gears pump 14.3 cc. They also have a body modification to
reduce the main galley flow impediment the standard design causes.
We've also have the last about 20 sets of a run of new (yes - modern, hard
steel) disc rotors we had made up. Exactly to Alpine specs, but in slotted,
solid, and drilled & slotted formats. And race proven, as are the pumps &
roller rockers.
And aluminium side plates and timing covers too.
I guess Red Dog is now open for orders?
Re diffs ratios: I'm asking, but no answers yet.
