Jim,
I installed 6X9 speakers in the front next to the Pioneer head unit. I made my
own kidney pads and enclosed them with padding and black vinyl. I have also
temporarily put a subwoofer on the back shelf until I finally decide if I want
to incorporate a couple rear speakers or maybe some small tube subwoofer(s) in
behind the seats. My car is a 71 so no light below the radio. However I was
able to cut the aluminum center support to accept a standard head unit size. I
have also seen a picture of a rear speaker installation that used a triangular
piece of wood in the corners of the shelf with a circular speaker in the wood
piece. I would also like to add a couple tweeters to the corners of the
windscreen.
