John,

It sounds like the outer part of your crank pulley may have rotated on
the rubber. Try checking the piston TIC location using a wire in the
spark plug hole to verify the pointer location. Examine the pulley.
Sometimes when they slip, the rubber sticks out a little farther than
normal.
