Trailer queens don't need to run well. (After all, how much oil can leak
out of the valve cover during the "run" period at a concours?)

A.K.A. "They talk the talk but don't walk the walk." In cycling, the term
"jersey pro" refers to a guy who has the bike and the clothing, but not the
legs or the lungs. (One reason I wear a t-shirt when I ride instead of a
Lance Armstrong USPS team jersey. ;-)

I think the same attitude prevails to some degree with replacement parts.
Obviously good parts can be made. After all, today's cars are generally
much more reliable than the cars built 30 years ago. I think many
replacement parts must be made with trailer queens in mind.

This is not to disparage people or cars that compete in concours, but I
think the perspective of people creating replacement parts for our cars is
often that they don't need to be reliable because they aren't driven much.
Hell, my TR250 hasn't gone anywhere in about five years. I haven't noticed
any problems with my mainshaft bearings or oil leaks. ;-)

i'm-a-great-one-to-talk-ly, y'rs,
