[TR] 1972 Triumph TR6

Waaay way back in the 1960’s when I worked in garages in PA, cars had to be inspected twice a year. Inspection required physically looking at the brake shoes which of course required taking off the drum. We would remove the grease cap with a channel lock pliers – just grab it and wiggle or lever it down and it would come right off. Perhaps because they had to come off twice a year they never got very stuck, but never had a problem removing them. Never worried about the next time because you never knew if you would see that car again.

Don't worry about destroying them. New ones are very inexpensive.

I bought a new set and welded a 1/4" nut in the center and use a bolt to remove the caps. I have shortened bolts, actually stainless allen key cap screws to fill the hole.
