I have the Audiovox on my TR6 (which is a close enough analog) without the vacuum canister.  Works just fine.  I mounted a bracket for the cable on the shelf in the firewall and used the beaded chain attached to the long linkage that runs behind the carbs.  I can send pictures if you like.

Subject: [TR] TR 250 (TR4) Cruise control

Hi,
We are planning some long excursions this year in the TR 250, so I would
like to install a cruise control in the TR 250.

There have been two basic options mentioned in various posts.
1) The Rostra unit which is more expensive and seems to require have
more installation requirements (for example a sensor on the drive shaft
to register speed.)

2) The recreation of the Audiovox cruise control, which requires a
vacuum canister. Quite a bit cheaper than the Rostra.

I have seen articles for installing both, but on carbs with a cable
linkage but none with the throttle linkage like the early TRs.

Has anyone installed on or the other on a TR250, TR4, etc that has the
rods, levers, bell crank arrangement? If so, how did you make the
connection?

Thanks,
Roger Elliott
