Not a terrible idea, but I wouldnt put cheap oil in it for your short run.  Put in a quality oil; the difference in cost is insignificant compared to the cost of your rebuild.

As others have said, You could skip the short run, just put in a quality oil and be done.

I've pulled a Triumph engine out of storage after 10-15 years storage with nothing done to it,  not even to the carbs and it fired right up and ran fine.
