I have received the braided line from Ted Schumacher, great looking product. Does anyone know if I need to use the leather washer on the back of the gauge where the line connects when installing the new line?

Replaced the oil line on a club member's TR6 through the ash tray just this past year.

Have you tried to do that? I doubt it will be very easy or not at all possible.
You might be able to loosen the dash and pull the top out and reach behind to release the gauge from the dash, pull the gauge, replace the line and re-assemble. You may need to release the tach and speedo drive cables.

According to Ted Schumacher, you can gain access through the ash tray hole once you pop out the tray itself.

Everyone,

Thanks everyone for your inputs. I hadn’t thought of replacing the line with a steel braided line. I will order one right away. My old plastic line broke right at the end of the ferrule. While I am at it I am going to replace the plastic clutch line with a steel braid line.

Does anyone have any suggestions to getting to the back of the gauge to connect the new line? This looks as if it will quite the job to get back there.

Everyone,

While trying to fix more issues on the car I found that I broke the oil pressure gauge line right at the fitting in the engine block. Does anyone know if I can repair the line. Is there a way to remove the broken piece of line off the fitting and securely installing the line back on the fitting?
