[TR] slightly grooved rotors

I can understand when new pads are used with slightly grooved rotors  there
is less contact with the pad and rotor surface and hence reduced braking,
but as the pad wears to the contours of the rotor, is my braking efficiency
increased back to that of having completely flat rotors or there abouts?
