[TR] TR4 Brake Light Switch

Geoall stock.had meters on the thing and there is no draw when not in use and nothing excessive (amps) when pedal pushed and current flows to bulbs.
its got to be one of 2 things
1) dot52) both moss and roadster factory buy from same crappy asian supllier. as i have been through about 6 now and bought from both of them

I also used DOT5 (for the past 17 years) w/o a problem.
I do have a relay on the brake circuit as I have 5 brake lights hooked up - was concerned that a bigger draw would kill the switch over time.
Frank - are you running more or bigger brake lamps than the original?

 I have been using DOT5 from the TRF in my 63 TR4 ever since its rebuild over 12 years ago. No problems what so ever. Also using DOT5 on my 72 TR6. But still using DOT4 on my 58 3. All have original components, just rebuilt with new seals. Sans the brake light switch on the 3 and 4. All I remember is blowing them out with alcohol before refit.

  so here is my change out procedure. have her indoors sit in the driver seat. you crack the switch with a wrench then when you say NOW she pushes down on the brake pedal ever so slooooooooowly you can get the old off and new one on before she hits bottom and that allows me to not have to re-bleed the brakes.

 I recently discovered that the brake lights are not working on  my '62 TR4 and have traced it to the pressure switch. The switch has 1/8 x 27 NPTF pipe threads. Does anyone know if a thread sealant is required and if so what would be the appropriate one to use?
