[TR] Stag front exhaust pipes

I'm in the process of putting on the road a Stag with a manual gearbox with
J type overdrive.

The parts book for  Stag shows the front pipes for the J type are different
compared to other flavors.
 I have a good pair of front pipes for a BW35  box. Can I take them to a
muffler shop and have them modified or is this false economy?
