I have used a piece of 1/2" plastic tubing and my left ear for nigh on 50 years and it seems to work just fine.

I am using a dial type. I bought it after the bubble set I had got broken in a shop move. I find the dial type to be a little bit more fiddly because the gauges want to "bounce" more than the liquid sticks. The dial set came with dampers on each gauge to reduce the bounce, but you have to adjust them individually. Either type works, I feel like the durability of the gauge style will be a little bit better.

I lent my old trusty bubble type carb sychronizer to another and he returned it saying it did not work -- well, he returned part of it. Looks like he ran it over or crushed it. He said that's how he got it. nuff said. no more help or lending tools to him.

Sooooooo, I need to buy a new one. There are other types out there now -- dial type and bubble types.

Any type better? I would figure less obstruction is better, but other than that don't know.

not trying to start any trouble -- just want to hear from the collective wisdom and I'll sort out the feedback for myself.

Thanks in advance.
