It is generally recommended any material top should be raised for a day or two once a month. This keeps it from "setting" into a position. It also keeps it from wearing at the same points constantly, and keeps it stretched. This is more important with vinyl than cloth. It also depends on the installer of the top - how much experience with cloth, with the cars? As far as what to do now, wait for a warm day, park the car in the sun, put the top up as much as you can. As it gets hotter stretch it a little more. Then go back regularly and stretch again. Little by little it should pull. Then leave it up stretched for as long as you can. What I do when the top is down, is put pieces of leather in strategic places subject to rub to protect the top.

Peter,
Thanks for you response.
Why do you say "it should be"(put up regularly)? I.e. did someone tell you that it's better for the tops if they spend most of their time in the raised position? I wonder if keeping my roof raised more often would have prevented my tops from becoming too narrow to reach the Velcro strips on the side rails.
I'm also wondering what I can do now to my "shrunk" Sunfast top so it will again reach the Velcro on the side rails.

I live in southern CA, my top, as friends will attest, is almost always
down. Only up if it really rains - not just a heavy mist or light
sprinkle. I have tried on occasion to put it up on a regular basis at
home, it should be, but have never really done that.

<<The main complaint I have with both the original top
and the Sunfast is that the tops attach to the velcro on the folding
<<side rails for only about 2 years before the width of the top
"shrinks" and becomes too narrow to even reach those side <<rails.
