I've seen them in several finishes including silver and black. I had mine
nickel plated just because I was having a large batch of items done and a
couple more had little affect on the cost.
BTW, Krylon now has a spray paint nickel finish which is a nice change from
the usual rattle-can aluminum.
If you do go black I would think flat would show any mark or abrasion --
gloss or semi-gloss might be a more durable look.
