[TR] TR6 ammeter

Ideally, the charging of the battery will have no change as you vary the load.
That is, until you reach the limit of what the alternator can supply. After
that, further load will draw power from the battery and you will see a
discharge.

During normal running, the battery will always have a small charging. For the
first several minutes after starting, the charging rate of the battery will be
higher than later on.

The voltage regulators are not ideal. As you draw more power from the
alternator, the voltage does tend to sag slightly. This will result in reduced
charging of the battery, and if the battery is totally fully charged, a large
load will cause the battery to slightly discharge until it reaches equilibrium
with the voltage as supplied by the regulator.

I would not have expected increased charging to the battery with increased
load. However, one way to see "charging" of the battery with increased load is
if the load is on the battery side of the ammeter. Ideally the only piece of
equipment on the battery side of the ammeter is the battery alone. I am not
sure about the TR6, but on some of the earlier cars the horns were on the
battery side!
