[TR] tr6 woes part 6

At this point I am very disappointed and insulted by the tone and response to
my problems. Many of you know my car. Is not a restored vehicle, but it is a
good original car. My regular mechanic, East-West Motors in Santa Barbara,
has never advised me about any problem that would make it unsafe or compromise
its drivability. I told Jason that working on body off restorations has jaded
his perception.

So I take my car back on a Wednesday, I am staying there while they look it
over. I take up another oil pump. When I get there, the technician and I
talk about the problems for a while. He installs a correct rear manifold
hose. We measure the spec's on the pump I brought up: .001 or less between
rotors and between rotor and housing, .0035 between base and rotors. He also
says that replacing the rocker shaft should bring the pressure up, too. He
says he wants to change the oil filter first, because he thinks K&N filters
have faulty pressure relief in them, so he installs a Fram. He starts it up
and hey the pressure is up!

I drive home, starts out better, but once again, by the time I am home 10psi
at idle. I call; we decide I will do the rocker shaft first. Well, turns out
the old one is worn. I could not only see where the rockers ran, but could
catch a fingernail on some of the grooves. In goes a new hardened shaft with
bushed rockers honed to .002 clearance to match the shaft. I did pick up a
little pressure at speed. More stable. Staying over 50 psi at speed, but
idle is still low.

Oh, and now I discover that my windshield wipes are barely moving! Must be
another coincidence.
