Randall,

I took you idea and checked the toe-in on my car.  I added tape to you list of
supplied and these are the steps.

First I taped several scraps together so they would reach across the front
tires.
I found that I had trouble holding one end to the first tire while marking the
other, so I taped the knife to one end of the wood scraps.  After I jammed it
into the tire, I did not have any problems with it moving.

Is this the same way you do it.

I could have just asked how you use these items, but posting my "guess" was
more fun.
Please share the process.
