I agree entirely.  If you raise the stock compression ratio and then add a
blower (which effectively both raises the compression ratio and heats the
intake air), you may well wind up with an engine that requires more octane
than is possible even with racing gas & additives.  'Blower' engines also
don't like wild cams; as the positive intake pressure can wind up blowing
fuel/air mixture into the exhaust during the overlap period.
