Andy
I'm not familiar enough with the clips that hold the badge
to know your best option.
These days most badges are held on by double back foam tape. I have used
foam tape to attach badges on newer cars, works well.
You need to decide your best option - modify so the clips work or use foam
tape.
I believe RTV is too messy and not reliable enough. You need to completely
cover the surfaces, that way RTV creates a vacuum on the badge after hold
the badge firmly in place until the silicone volcanizes. The problem I see
with this is vibration will loosen the silicon eventually and we have plenty
of vibrations.
The foam tape has some compliance to vibration. You just need to get both
surfaces clean for the tape to stick well.
As with all the badges and emblems on the Sunbeam, you need to check them.
I nearly lost the 2 rear fender badges because the stud started to give way.
Had to solder the studs back in place and I added a little foam tape to help
keep them on the fender.

Subject: [Tigers] Center grille badge
Hey, everyone:
I went to replace my tired-looking center grille badge on my Mk1A with a
repro badge, but the repro badge doesn't have the inset side like the
original to accept the stock retaining clips. If I remove the clips, the
repro badge fits perfectly into the hole but there is no means of retaining
it there.
For those of you out there who have replaced these, how did you affix the
repro badge? I can see no way to attach it by using the stock clips without
first modifying the sides of the badge to accept the clips. Are we left
with just using something like a silicone gasket product to hold it in
place?
Thanks for any suggestions,
Andy Walker
