When I repaired mine, the plastic was toast.  Dyed some varnish black, and
filled the groove.  I have seen some of the machined hubs made by Eric
Gibeaut and others, and they are first class.  Fit very well, and not likely
to ever crack, like the cast ones may be likely to do.  Two pieces, lock
together with screws, a good alternative.  David
