Actually, if you are leaving the hood open s couple of inches then you can build an upside down hood pin latch. Remove the spring latch in the rear center, replace it with a shortened hood pin, then make a Z shaped receiver plate for it. use an R clip to hold the hood in the closed position. You can reach the clip through the opening at the rear of the hood.
