[Tigers] Windshield Wiper motors etc.

If I remember correctly (15 years ago or more) when I cleaned out my wiper
"tubes," I used a gun-cleaning rod with a wire brush on the end. I can't
remember what caliber, but somewhere around a .30 cal. should work. It's
just mild steel tubing, not unlike gas line with normal flares on the end.
It takes a while to clean the "flexible rod", but a good cleaning solvent
and a good brush work fine. Use a liberal amount of normal grease when
reassembling. The thing to remember BEFORE you take it apart is to mark the
cap with the wire on it to the main case (this is how the park feature is
adjusted, by rotating) so it goes back in the same place, just a mark with a
pointed punch will work.

Bill:

I would bet that it is congealed grease in the wiper drive tube. I used
mineral spirits and a lot of patience cleaning my tube so that the drive
cable now spins freely. It was totally locked up when I started.
I would squirt a bit of cleaner into the tube and then work the drive
"cable" back and forth and in and out, adding solvent as needed, until I was
able to pull it completely out.

I have recently gotten a Mark II back on the road after a long sleep -
cannot get wipers to work, assume motor is burned out or grease in mechanism
has essentially solidified. Does anyone on list have link to good tech tip
on R and R of wiper mechanism? Thanks.
