[Spridgets] Where were you when the LBC bug got you?

My LBC addiction probably harkens all the way before I was born.
My mom and dad used to rally in their Singer and did pretty well. Then when
dad bought Briggs Cunningham's personal XK120M, things got a bit more serious,
including rallying while my mom was pregnant with me. They won a number of
national TSD rallys in'57, '58 and '59 in the Jag. Later, after selling the
Jag to pay for an Alfa Guilietta Sprint Speciale, my dad did mostly autocross
(Gymkhana at the time)with TASC (Taconic Auto Sports Car Club) bringing us
kids along as runners until he pioneered a light sensing timing system in '64.
I remember wandering through the paddock/pits/whatever looking at the TRs,
Jags, A-Hs, etc.
One of the members they rallied against had a SIATA, which held a sign saying
SIATA in the passengers door pocket to answer any curious drivers.
In the 70s my brother went through an MGB that I helped him put a clutch into
(subsequently crashed), a TR4A IRS also helped with the clutch on this one,
sold for profit!!!
In the 90's he and I co-drove a '63 Spitfire with a 1296 in it in RMVR at
Steamboat as well as other venues here in CO.
My first LBC, strangely enough was the MKII, but the first one that I drove
the pants off of was the Spitfire, now I've got the Be AND the MKII on the
road!!!
When my dad he was wondering why I bought the BE the year after I bought
it,I took him out for a ride in it, he hadn't been in a roadster since he sold
the Jag, as I pulled back up to the house, he had the biggest grin on his face
that I've perhaps ever seen (on him at least)! There were no more questions
about WHY, only whether he could drive it, and how hard he should push it!!
I'd say that it runs in the family- I was also born into it, Frankie!
