Pat,

My heart goes out to you!  House/Shop fire is my greatest fear.  I wish 
you the fastest and easier path to recovery.  Now is a great time to 
upgrade your tools.

BTW, I know snap-on used to replace any tool in a fire, so maybe other 
'guaranteed for life' brands will also.  Something to check into.

A few weeks ago, I was making a knife and I needed to 'roughen up' the 
handle area before I epoxied it.  I used my belt sander.

A few minutes later, I smelt the faint smell of smoke.  Turns out the hot 
embers from the knife were slowly burning some of the sawdust in the belt 
sander housing.

Luckily, I found it before any damage.  But I no longer use that belt 
sander for any metal.

Again, speedy recovery!  (and if you are close to NJ and need to work on 
anything, let me know.  My shop is always open to list members.  I even 
have a car trailer to move your vehicles if need be!)
