Unlikely, anyone can submit their personally owned car for adverts or filmwork, and many ads use instantly recognisable cars where it is relevant to the subject. 'Modification' is usually done when the car in question is shown being damaged or as unreliable in some way, the owners of the marque (who do still exist) could sue for defamation. On UK TV at least such cars are unrecognisable except to an enthusiast, either with CGI or stick-on panels. There is current an ad for a breakdown company taking the mickey out of the market leader who as a 'transformer' character crushes what looks rather like an MGA underfoot on its way to arriving too late at a breakdown. Haven't been able to find an online version of that.

Copyright infringement? Seems unlikely for a 40-year-old car made by a company that no longer exists.
