I bought (Discount Tire Direct and installed locally 185/70R14 Falken Pro Touring A/S Tires ran $270.32 for 4 and $14 per tire install and balance.

I chose to just take the tires and wheels to the shop so I could reinstall with torque wrench set on 60 pounds for styled steel wheels on 1973 MGB. Impact wrenches could damage our stud holes if put on too tightly.

Numerous other changes such as poly bushings, new steering rack (230K on original), solid alloy 3/4 sway bar mounting brackets from Moss. All in all, corners very flat. Tires seem just fine with the new changes, though only about 600 miles on them since June but no complaints up to this point.

Previous tires were Sumitomo HTR 200 from 2009 (about 2/32's left on tread and 12 years old) and before that Yokohama A008's (many sets) which were my favorite but neither of these are available. The Falken's were rated and reviewed better for wet and dry weather handling.

Our sizes are getting harder and harder to find and seem to made with mini van's in mind.

What size/brand are people using these days?   The ones that I have on my car are Michelin Harmony 84S 175-70/14.
I am happy with their performance, but they  are ten years old so I need to replace them.
Thanks Peter Schauss 198O MGB
I replaced my old 1990-something tires with a set of Michelin Defender 180/70R14 about a month ago. They seem OK - I haven't put too many miles on them yet, but they fit the car (Rostyle wheels) and they were on sale. The cost was just under $400 including mounting and balancing.

--Steve (1980 MGB) Peter,   I just replaced with :

Hankook Kinergy ST H735 All Season Tire - 175/70R14 84T
As I am not a performance driver these are serving me well on my BGT.

Exactly the same size I'm using. Circumference matches OEM just fine.

185R14 on the wire wheels. Fulda and these do a good job.

In the boot it is the standard 165R14. Another size does not fit in the crampy space…

Cheers,
