[Mgs] Overdrive Diagram - Update

I've just noticed I had a photo attached to this, didn't think the list handled attachments.

Anyway, that's not the oil pump but the relief valve assembly beside the solenoid plate that can be accessed directly.  The oil pump is 'under' the circular plug with two holes in the sump.

I've been into the relief valve on both my cars, and there are various configurations as shown here http://www.mgb-stuff.org.uk/goc.htm#3

I've not been into the pump but I'm attaching a scan of the exploded parts from the Laycock manual, Jack at least should get that.

  OK, attached is a picture of the components as they were installed in my oil pump.  I have removed it, and after carefully examining the assembly, I think I can see why it is not working.  I had the plunger (the item in the middle in the attached picture) installed backwards.  I had the long end of the plunger going down into the pump body, so of course, the plunger riding on the cam would not even contact the plunger going into the body.  When I turned the plunger around, the 2 plungers now come into contact with each other, thus allowing the pump to work.


  I'd still be interested in any comments you have (other than "what a s***head").  Also, I'd like to get an exploded diagram of the unit in my car.  Thanks for any help you can give me.
